Oil on canvas 50 x 70 cm
The sea is my eternal inspiration. This particular scenery came together effortlessly. I love how the rugged rocks meet the timeless calm of the waves while an ancient olive tree still stands, bare, whispering stories of the time gone by."

I spotted this charming little house on Capri, on a road climbing up from Marina Piccola to Anacapri, where the streets are so narrow the doors practically open into a traffic jam. Seriously, buses here play a game of “who’s got the smaller ego” trying to squeeze past each other. And just when you think it can’t get any tighter, the view opens up spectacularly to the Bay of Naples — proof that sometimes the best things come in the tiniest, most crowded packages.

This painting was inspired by a scene on Korčula island, by a quiet moment spent among ancient trees that seemed to whisper their age through every twist of bark and flicker of leaf. The light filtered gently through the canopy, casting a biblical kind of calm — the kind that makes you pause and wonder if time really does does slow down in this shade. I didn’t plan this painting — it happened the way olives ripen: slowly, patiently, and under the right light.

Faraglioni di Capri was painted — where else — from the sea, once again from a boat. That day, the water was dark and dramatic, making the pale cliffs of the Faraglioni look as if someone had spotlighted them just for us. The contrast in colors was striking, and the gentle rocking of the waves gave this scene tha extra touch.

This painting was created in one of my favorite coves on the island of Rab — a place filled with more memories than words could ever capture. There, the sea quiets down, time slows, and the olive tree above the little rocky beach seems to stand guard over all the peaceful moments that matter to me. I wanted to capture that calm and presence — and bring it onto the canvas.

This painting has sparked many reactions at my exhibitions iz Zagreb, Croatia — perhaps because it holds both a scene and a story. Sunset with Children and a Chapel depicts a view from Tuscany, where the Madonna di Vitaleta chapel sits — in the middle of nowhere, yet in the perfect spot. Long shadows and the golden hues of the sunset brought depth and emotion to the painting that I hadn’t planned. It happened spontaneously, just like most of the best moments.

This is an artificial island in the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro. To me it was a revelation because I hadn’t known about it before. The island was created through great human effort — built from layers of stones. Tradition says that the island was created as people would throw stones into the sea after every voyage, a custom that has lasts since 15th century. Today, I am emotionally connected to Gospa od Škrpjela because my sister got married there, and her bouquet still hangs near the altar alongside dozens of others.
And yes, the morning mist above the sea is a very common sight there. I hope I conveyed it well. What do you think?
oil on canvas, 40 x 50 cm, 2015
Have you ever visited Berlin’s Alte Nationalgalerie? Maybe you spotted the painting Die Toteninsel there. That’s actually this island in Montenegro. Back in the plague days, people used to ferry the sick there by boat. Putting the spooky stuff aside, the islet is called Sveti Đorđe. I actually photographed it (and then painted it) from the island Gospa od Škrpjela, so this is the fence in the picture. Both islands are iconic sights in the Bay of Kotor and a favorite painting spot of mine. I’m pretty sure this won’t be my last painting inspired by that corner of the world.

This painting was inspired by a scene from a documentary - again, from Tuscany. In this scene the clouds embraced the cliff — a little natural magic. The biggest challenge was painting the clouds because, as you know, pure white in classical painting tolerates no mistakes. You could say those clouds were my “white turmoil,” but, art is about that too — a little chaos with a touch of elegance.
Oil on canvas, 25 x 33 cm, 2023
This view of Ravello is common on postcards. Winding up the roads above the Amalfi Coast, this scene stops everything — the breath, the time... Of course I had to capture it. The painting is based on a photo. With every brushstroke, I tried to recreate the silence of that height and the beauty that no camera could capture. I'm stilly trying, of course.
oil on canvas 30 x 40 cm, 2022
Do you know the coastal path that connects the old town of Rab to Palit? It's a place where the scent of immortelle and pine fills the air, and colours seem to be playing their own quiet game. The winding trails offer beautiful views of the sea and the bay. I painted this scene simply because it’s a view I want to look at every day.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2009
This Mediterranean alley is special to me. It’s one of the first oil paintings I have ever created. The facades are crumbling, everything looks a bit run-down, and that’s exactly where its beauty lies. No glamour, just pure character. It feels like the whole street is quietly whispering stories from summers long gone.
Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm, 2023
A view of Capri from the road leading from Marina Grande to Anacapri, where the island’s rhythm unfolds below — little boats, grand yachts, sailboats scattered like confetti across the blue sea. Everything is in motion, buzzing with life, yet from up here it feels calm and silent. I was drawn by this perfect balance.
oil on canvas 30 x 40 cm, 2021
This painting was a test of patience and precision. I tried to catch the wave just before it smacks the rocks — a tricky moment that’s gone in a flash but full of drama. The area around my easel was covered in zinc white splatters — just a proof of a passionate painting session.
oil on canvas 40 x 50 cm, 2024
This is the view of Rab’s old town core from the old bell tower. Have you ever climbed up there? Would you say it’s worth it?"
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
This scene appeared after one meeting at Kaptol, when I needed to walk to Zagreb’s main square. The rain had just stopped and the day was coming to an end. I arrived right as the streetlights turned on, and the car lights made the whole scene more dramatic. Their glow added the accent to the colors and reflections on the asphalt. I photographed this with a slow shutter and soon transferred the image from the screen onto the canvas. Actually, at that time only one of the cathedral’s towers was covered in scaffolding, but not in my painting. I improvised.
oil on canvas 50 x 70 cm, 2024
These clouds appeared in the sky after a summer storm, and you know storms in Zagreb have been quite fierce and dramatic in recent years. The sky was entirely covered with scenes like this. I took dozens of photos and from two of them, I created this painting using just four colors: zinc white, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, and a touch of cadmium yellow. What a retreat.
oil and oil pastels on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2024
I invested in some high-quality oil pastels and probably inspired by the French Impressionists, thought it might be easier to achieve dynamics than using a brush. With this painting I studied how oil pastels behave. And, you know what, I finished the piece with traditional oil paints and decided to stay loyal to that technique.

An olive grove in the wild by the sea, inspired by the unmistakable brushstrokes of Claude Monet. I made it with few colors only, and even though it's been years, I still love looking at this painting.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2023
This is a view of two out of four city bell towers from the promenade stretching along the southern side of the town. You’ve probably seen this and similar views on postcards. It was a cloudy day, so the facades appeared in shades of gray. Interestingly, just before sunset, those same facades take on incredible shades of gold.
oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm, 2023
I painted a few versions of this scene. To me this is paradise. Every time I see this terrace above the Amalfi coast, it feels right — like the kind of place you’d want to hang out forever. And a day.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2021
This ancient olive tree isn’t just old — its twisted trunk carries the weight of centuries and stories carefully carved by time. Its canopy is like a living relief, shaped by the power of nature and ages gone by. Its branches have probably witnessed more sunsets than we could count cups of coffee.
Oil on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, 2024
Yes, this is Tuscany. And is there anything more beautiful? Well, if you’re not by the sea. But if you’re not on the coast, these tall green sentinels make the perfect backup plan. Like nature’s own version of skyscrapers, but way more elegant and with better views...
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2023
My mom used to tell me I was always in the clouds — maybe she was onto something. This is where I feel at home, where I go to catch my breath. And during one sunset, this painting was born. Turns out, flying in the clouds isn’t so bad when you know where to land.

When was the last time you saw a haystack stacked this perfectly?
This scene in a yard in Požega, surrounded by orchards, captivated and calmed me. So simple, yet so beautifully complex. I couldn’t resist capturing it on canvas to remember this moment of peace and harmony.
oil on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, 2025
I was mesmerized by the endless shades of blue inside the Blue Grotto — so many hues that you’d need a lifetime just to count them all. It’s as though the sea and the cave joined forces to create a spectacular palette of every hue possible.
oil on canvas 40 x 60 cm 2025
Inside the Blue Grotto, where the blues are so many you’d need a lifetime just to count them all — from electric sapphire to mysterious navy — dancing with every shade of brown rock that looks like it’s got its own coffee obsession. It’s like the sea and the cave had a colorful argument and decided to show off every shade they could think of. Good luck picking a favorite.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2025
Captured during a boat trip, these legendary Faraglioni rocks are like Capri’s own VIP bouncers — standing tall, unmovable, and making sure only the most stunning views get through. They’ve been hanging out in the Mediterranean for centuries, probably judging everyone else’s sea selfies with them in the background.
oil on canvas, 40 x 50 cm, 2022
I have a million memories of this paradise beach on Rab — the golden sand so rich it feels like nature accidentally spilled its treasure chest, the warmth that seeps into your bones like a slow, friendly handshake, and a calmness that whispers, “You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.”
oil on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, 2025
This scene is from another media. I was so captivated that I literally froze the image on my TV — I hit pause like I stopped time — and transferred it onto canvas.
If I ever disappear, look for me there — I’m probably arguing with a palm tree about who gets the best shade.
oil on canvas, 25 x 33 cm, 2017
This scene comes from another medium and served as my practice playground for painting waves — because every great artist needs a good excuse to splash some paint around.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
This painting was created out of my wanderings down a street where even the paint seemed to have given up on life — a place where time forgot to show up for work. Those crumbling Mediterranean facades told stories louder than background noise, so I decided to immortalize their stubborn charm before the next coat of “modernity” sweeps them away. It’s basically a love letter to all things beautifully neglected.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
I wanted to capture this view and carry it into eternity — a moment of peace from the Mediterranean coast. Inspired by a scene from Italy, this painting was born from my desire to preserve the timeless beauty of the cove, the house, and the sailboats dancing in the distance.
oil on canvas 30 x 40 cm, 2023
Hiking through the Plešivica wine region reveals enchanting landscapes. Some might think it’s Tuscany, Italy, but this is Croatia.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
All of you who have hiked Bikčević Trail on Medvednica have passed through here. In summer, in the shade of the trees and among piles of trampled, crushed leaves, the colors of the landscape take on shades of brown—raw umber, a color that dominates and transforms the scenery.
oil on canvas 50 x 70 cm, 2024
Have you ever driven across the flatlands of Croatia in early summer? In some regions, as far as the eye can see, the fields are dotted with hay bales, perfectly arranged and waiting tobe collected. I painted several versions of this scene, and all in just a few minutes. They seemed to pour out of me effortlessly — spontaneous and unforced, as if the fields had painted themselves through my hands.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2023
A simple wooden boat resting on calm waters, its shadow softly visible beneath the surface — my little exercise in capturing reflections and shadows in the sea. Painting this was as soothing as watching it unfold, like the boat and I shared a quiet moment of practice. Sometimes, the trickiest shadows teach you the most.
oil on canvas, 25 x 33 cm, 2021
The Amalfi coast with a small wooden boat and blooming flowers that seem to hold memories of simpler times. Today, the area is famous as a playground for the wealthy, yet nature and Mediterranean architecture keep their timeless charm. The colors are vibrant, as if the sea and flowers teamed up to create a little show of their own.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
This painting was born out of my fascination with lilies. Delicate and elusive, like hidden gems, they were a true joy to capture on canvas. The colors needed to reflect both the bright pink of the lilies and the murky, ever-changing atmosphere of their surroundings. What emerged is a scene that reminds me of a small and subtle oasis of life.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
I tried to emphasize the rhythm of the waves. I used ultramarine blue and played with zinc white, vermilion red, and burnt umber.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2022
Painting this was like a vacation. While creating these lilies, I tried to capture their tenderness and the quiet strength hidden in the calm and damp silence of the marsh. The colors of the water felt like a puzzle I had to solve.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2021
In this scene, I wanted to emphasize the reflections of the weeping willows’ crowns and the blue sky on the restless lake, while still letting the water lilies take center stage. Because of all that, the green color dominates. Even though the landscape is constantly changing.
oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm, 2021
The pond with water lilies transformed into blue by rain — droplets falling into the lake, blurring reflections and adding a delicate rhythm to the water’s surface. I hope you can feel the gentle dance of raindrops as they mingle with the restless blues.
oil on canvas, 35 x 43 cm, 2008, framed
While creating this painting I was looking at a frozen scene from a documentary on screen. This was my first oil painting, created in 2008. You can see plenty of uncertainty and experimentation on the Brooklyn Bridge. This was one of the pivotal paintings that made me fall in love with the oil on canvas technique.
